A great fishing trip starts with choosing the right kind of access. Little Red Overlook is a riverfront cabin beside the Lobo Landing boat ramp, with an especially good setup for anglers heading out by boat or meeting a guide.
First, choose how you want to fish
The water in front of the cabin is part of a slower, deeper stretch of the Little Red. That is a different experience from stepping into a shallow shoal with a fly rod. Our location gives you immediate proximity to the public boat ramp and a comfortable place to return to after a day on the water.
Come with a boat plan, a guide plan, or a plan to drive to a suitable public wading access. If your ideal vacation is casually fishing from a private dock or the bank outside your rental, this cabin is not the right fit.
For a day in the boat
Lobo Landing is immediately next door. You can spend the day exploring the river, then return to a stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and the hot tub overlooking the water. Make arrangements for any guide, rental, or marina services directly with the provider before your trip; those services are not included with the cabin.
For a day in waders
Our usual starting points for a wading plan are JFK and the Barnett Access / Swinging Bridge / Winkley area. You will be driving to those accesses rather than wading out from the cabin. Which stretch works on a particular day depends on releases, conditions, and your experience.
Do not assume that a named wading access will be safe to wade when you arrive. Conditions on a tailwater can change during your outing.
Check the water, then check it again
Before heading out, consult Southwestern Power Administration’s generation schedule for Greers Ferry. It is an estimate, not a guarantee: generation can change and the Corps of Engineers may release water for other purposes. Pay attention to actual conditions and local guidance as well.
Review AGFC’s Little Red River information and current regulation notices for the specific water you plan to fish. License, permit, tackle, and harvest requirements can vary and change.
